Senior Mechanical Engineer
ARCO/Murray Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering Design team in Downers Grove, Illinois. This role leads the development of mechanical and plumbing systems for design/build projects spanning Entertainment, Controlled Environment Agriculture, Industrial, Commercial, and Manufacturing facilities.

Collaborate with internal construction partners—experienced Engineers and Project Managers—to deliver exceptional results throughout the design/build process.
Responsibilities
- Manage the design process for mechanical and plumbing systems across diverse building types, from concept to turnover and operation.
- Apply knowledge of building codes, standards, and project requirements to develop mechanical and plumbing system designs.
- Perform load calculations using ASHRAE-approved methods for various project and building types.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to ensure final deliverables meet client criteria.
- Generate permit and construction documents using 3D modeling software like Revit and/or AutoCAD.
- Participate in project pursuits and conceptual design to demonstrate the value of the design/build approach.
- Assist the project team during construction by reviewing RFIs, submittals, and field challenges.
- Contribute to the development of standards, procedures, and training programs for the group.
Requirements
- 7–20 years of mechanical and/or plumbing design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and design principles for mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Pay
Typical base compensation for the Senior Mechanical Engineer role is between $80,000 and $120,000. Candidates with extensive experience may exceed this range. The role is also eligible for discretionary bonus compensation based on individual and company performance.
