About the Role

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. This role involves working closely with our business development team and other discipline leads to develop technical proposals and take a proactive role in marketing and business development. The position offers the opportunity to build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative, multidisciplinary office while providing direct consulting services to clients.

Responsibilities

• Design of HVAC and plumbing systems
• Manage and design multiple concurrent projects
• Interpret technical drawings and lead design team efforts
• Manage project team for budget and schedule control
• Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
• Ensure design conforms with relevant codes (mechanical, energy, plumbing) and client standards
• Read and prepare project drawings including ductwork plans, piping plans, sections, isometric piping drawings, and bills of materials
• Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using standard industry programs
• Multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers
• Conduct marketing and business development activities
• Contribute positively to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale
• Travel as required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (required)
• 10 to 15 years of experience
• Experience with Load Calculation Software, AutoCAD, and Revit
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Project Management experience and/or certifications
• Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with energy modeling
• Local AHJ experience and relationships
• Active local industry involvement

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Understanding of database concepts
• Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resource files
• Strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities

• Approximate base salary: $100,000–$150,000 based on experience
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
