This position supports the Agile Weapons Division (AFLCMC/EBX) at Eglin AFB, FL, delivering weapon capabilities with speed and agility through design, testing, fielding, production, and sustainment in an integrated digital environment. The division manages leading hypersonic weapons programs, including the Future Hypersonic Program (FYHP), Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW), and Hypersonic Air-Launched Cruise Missile (HACM).
Responsibilities
- Advise and assist in the design, development, qualification, and testing of warheads, including mechanical design, manufacturing, energetic fills, penetration modeling, test and evaluation, technical data package configuration management, warhead performance, aircraft integration, fatigue and stress analysis, insensitive munitions, and composites in accordance with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-2105C.
- Support efforts related to working with metals, ceramics, plastics, coatings, fluids, or other substances to create new materials or identify new uses for materials that meet agency requirements.
- Provide materials engineering support to determine and advise on material composition, atomic and molecular configuration, fabrication and processing techniques, and the best materials or combinations of materials for use in systems.
- Perform tasks in support of various life-cycle stages, including testing and evaluating materials, corrosion control, failure analysis, developing or revising inspection techniques, specification standards, and maintenance processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and twenty (20) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, or a master’s degree in a related field and at least fifteen (15) years of experience, or a PhD (Doctorate) degree in a related field and at least five (5) years of experience.
- All engineering support roles require a degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college of engineering. Degrees in engineering technology are not qualifying. The degree must have been received in the year of, or any year after, the original date of accreditation.
