About the role

Provides warehouse services through safe, efficient, cost-effective, and accurate handling of customer products and materials using specially equipped trucks such as slip-sheet, clamps, and reach. This position may involve all phases of loading, unloading, staging, and storage of customer products, as well as the use of computer equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Pulling Orders
    • Accurately locate and load, both by hand and using appropriate motorized equipment (e.g., forklift truck), customer product onto/from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves according to established procedures and safety regulations.
    • Operate special equipment as necessary, such as a turret clamp, slip sheet equipment, and RF unit (if applicable).
    • Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials handled on the daily production sheet.
    • Complete specialized order processing for loading by stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling, and consolidating as required on the order.
  • Operating & Maintenance - Equipment and Grounds
    • Assign/verify trailers to appropriate dock and/or yard location, ensure trailers are locked to dock-lock and/or chock the wheels (if applicable), following all safety rules and company policy.
    • Daily inspect and repair or make adjustments before operating tow-motor vehicles, following safety and maintenance instructions. Complete the tow-motor inspection sheet at the beginning of each shift and/or when assigned to another piece of equipment; report immediately any defective equipment to supervisor.
    • Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed to ensure product preservation.
    • Assist in building and grounds maintenance to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, neat, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Loading & Unloading
    • Load picked orders (pull & load) according to policies and procedures, completing appropriate paperwork including Bill of Lading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit, and Lot Verification.
    • Unload, move, stack, and stage customer products and materials both by hand and using forklift or other power equipment, keeping appropriate records and reports.
  • Reports
    • Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by supervisor.
    • Assist in physical inventories ensuring facility and contents are secure.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Provide other services such as sanitation requirement activities, assembling crates (boxes) to contain products, and/or moving loose materials to containers as directed by supervisor and/or team leader.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment
    • Follow basic mandatory work instructions (including the use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
  • Additional Information
    • Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes, increase proficiency, and eliminate waste.
    • Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean, and orderly facility.
    • Meet and occasionally exceed company standards for warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivity, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Forklift Certification.
  • Preferred two (2) years of forklift/tow motor experience (forklift certification required).
  • Ability to operate forklift – both sit-down and stand-up, tow motor, motorized and non-motorized pallet jack; clamp, reach, and slip sheet.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
  • Light data entry skills required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to make decisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use.
  • Attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner.

Pay

The hourly wage for this position is $24.00.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (1st shift).
