About the role
The Senior Marketing Director, Generic Medicine Manufacturers will lead the growth strategy for USP standards, products, and solutions in support of the USP 2030 strategy. This key marketing leadership role within the Program, Region Operations and Strategy (PROpS) division is responsible for USP’s flagship $180M revenue portfolio and establishing strategic direction for future revenue growth. The role manages a portfolio serving customers across the generic medicines industry, from analytical R&D through manufacturing, and co-leads the Program Unit Team with Science to shape annual priorities, go-to-market strategies, marketing plans, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and visionary marketing leader with deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical and life sciences landscape, including complex product life cycles, regulatory considerations, customer segmentation, and value-based messaging. This supervisory role requires driving thought leadership, managing multiple priorities, and developing high-performing teams while fostering strong cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Define long-term vision and growth strategy for USP standards and solutions addressing the Generics Medicines Manufacturing Industry, aligning with USP growth goals.
- Develop Annual Plans, Marketing Plans, and Go-To-Market strategies to drive awareness, adoption, and usage of standards, products, and solutions among key stakeholders.
- Co-lead Program Units teams in oversight and alignment of strategies, plans, and budgets to ensure seamless implementation across cross-functional teams.
- Collect data, insights, and conduct market research and analyses to identify opportunities and inform marketing decisions.
- Understand the pharma regulatory landscape, including oversight, enforcement, and actions (e.g., recalls, warnings) impacting industry, USP standards, and customers.
- Collaborate with Science, Product Management, Digital Marketing, Regions, Global Communications, Customer Service, and others to ensure a unified approach to supporting products across all touchpoints.
- Regularly monitor and analyze market, industry, and customer data to identify trends and optimize product portfolio performance.
- Present quarterly business reviews, including updates and performance metrics, to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Monitor market, competitive, and customer trends to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, laws, and internal policies while maintaining ethical conduct and governance.
- Deliver impactful presentations and regular reports to key stakeholders and the leadership team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in marketing or brand management in biopharma, life science, or a related field.
- At least ten (10) years of experience leading and supervising direct reports and staff, including cross-functional team leadership.
- Exceptional product, process, and project management skills; ability to manage a diverse and rapidly changing workload across multiple teams within a matrixed structure.
- Strong business acumen and excellent data and analytics skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to inspire trust and confidence among internal and external audiences.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (preferred).
- Deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Advanced degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience with MS Office, Salesforce, Tableau, Copilot, Adobe, and other tools.
- B2B and B2C experience (preferred).
Supervisory Responsibilities
- 2 direct reports.

Pay
- Base Salary Range: USD $202,000 – $262,150 annually.
- Target Annual Bonus: Varies based on role level.
