Senior Marketing Communications Manager
Position Summary
The Senior Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for leading strategic marketing and communications initiatives that elevate awareness, strengthen stakeholder engagement, support fundraising efforts, and advance the mission of the Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing Communications & Brand Leadership
- Develop and execute integrated marketing and communications strategies aligned with organizational priorities, fundraising goals, advocacy initiatives, research initiatives and awareness campaigns.
- Ensure consistent brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all communications platforms and stakeholder touchpoints.
- Partner with executive leadership to position the Foundation as a trusted voice within the medical research, clinical trials, and nonprofit communities.
- Help evolve and strengthen the Foundation's brand presence, reputation, and audience engagement strategies.
- Identify and manage appropriate agency partners and outside consultants to drive all work products forward.
Content Development & Storytelling
- Lead development of compelling content including patient stories, donor impact stories, campaign messaging, research updates, newsletters, annual reports, website copy, fundraising materials, videos, social media content, and thought leadership pieces.
- Translate complex medical research and clinical trials-related information into clear, accessible, and emotionally resonant communications.
- Oversee editorial calendars and content workflows across digital and print channels.
- Ensure all content aligns with organizational messaging, compliance standards, and accessibility best practices.
Digital Marketing & Audience Engagement
- Manage and optimize digital communications channels including website, email marketing, social media, SEO, and paid digital campaigns with agency or consultant support as needed.
- Analyze audience behavior and campaign performance to improve engagement, conversion, and retention strategies.
- Collaborate with development and fundraising teams to support donor acquisition, stewardship, and campaign initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen community engagement and expand audience reach.
Campaign & Project Management
- Lead cross-functional marketing and communications projects from concept through execution.
- Manage timelines, budgets, vendors, freelancers, agencies, and production schedules.
- Establish processes, workflows, and communication standards that improve efficiency and collaboration.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and report on KPIs related to marketing performance, digital engagement, fundraising campaigns, media coverage, and audience growth.
- Use data-driven insights to optimize campaign effectiveness and communication strategies.
- Develop dashboards and reports for leadership and board-level updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or brand strategy.
- Experience within nonprofit, healthcare, hospital, medical research, healthcare advocacy, or medical research foundation environments strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage integrated marketing campaigns and multi-channel communications strategies.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience simplifying complex research and clinical trial information for broad audiences.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with Bloomerang, email marketing, Wordpress, social media management, analytics tools, and marketing automation systems.
- Familiarity with fundraising communications and donor engagement strategies preferred.
