Senior Market Lead - Middle Market Commercial Banking

About the role

We're looking for a talented and passionate professional to join our team. You'll be responsible for business development and ongoing relationship management, working closely with middle market and large corporate clients, private equity firms, and family offices.

Responsibilities

  • Work to become a trusted advisor / strategic partner to middle market and large corporate clients, in addition to private equity firms and family offices.
  • Create and drive strategy to acquire and/or expand and retain client relationships to generate revenue and deepen share of wallet.
  • Identify product/service opportunities for other business units and participate in the development of creative solutions to client needs, coordinating presentations and bringing in partners when appropriate.
  • Manage risk/return and drive quality for new and/or existing clients, actively identifying and mitigating different types of risks such as regulatory, reputational, operational, and credit risks.
  • Lend strategic support to Associates and Sr. Associates as well as the Credit and Services teams to execute client requests in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with deal team on externally-facing closing activities as needed.
  • Provide direction to Associates and Sr. Associates in the preparation of the various internal portfolio monitoring reports (Leveraged Loan Trend Cards, Shared National Credits, Criticized Asset Reports, etc.).
  • Respond to approval requests for overdrafts, manual wires, NSF wires, ACH suspensions, etc.
  • Understand the key parameters of the Bank’s Risk Appetite and be prepared to present new credit opportunities to Senior Management and Credit Risk Management teams for review.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with clients to assess any changes in financial performance and coordinate with PMs to make recommendations regarding changes in the Bank’s underlying risk ratings applied to each client.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10+ years experience as a Commercial Relationship Manager and a minimum of 5 years experience as a Business Developer.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Formal credit training.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong track record of success in business development and relationship management.
  • Proven ability to identify and capitalize on cross-sell opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience managing risk and maintaining high-quality standards for client relationships.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Benefits

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000.00 - $240,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
