About the role

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The role recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls, and coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

Responsibilities

  • Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, production equipment, and systems integration.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment using AutoCAD/Solidworks.
  • Programming with Allen Bradley PLCs, Drives, HMIs, AMS, and Siemens PLCs/HMIs (preferred).
  • Networking in IP and Modicon environments.
  • Designs Rexroth servos, panel design, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Designs, implements, tests, sources, and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Performs strong troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Conducts product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Ability to plan ahead and manage over a 3-6 month time span.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods, including layout, assembly, and production equipment.
  • Product development experience.
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to solve complex problems under changing needs and stress.
  • Solid decision-making skills.
  • Large project management experience involving both technical and contractor management.
  • Extensive experience in either the rollforming industry or a related industry.
  • Production management experience.
  • Ability to self-direct in a field environment given project goals.
  • Ability to run the department and make key decisions in the manager’s absence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred (military equivalent recognized).
  • Computer-assisted design proficiency (AutoCAD/Solidworks).
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Spanish language skills would be a plus.
  • Abstract reasoning ability.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting: Occasional, up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing: 8+ hours per day.
  • Walking: Off and on, 4-6 hours per day.
  • Body positions: Squatting, bending, extending arms, stooping, reaching overhead.
  • Grasping: Both hands up to 8 hours per day.
  • Pushing: Occasionally.
  • Climbing: Occasionally.

Work Environment

Office and manufacturing plant. Availability to travel 75% or more.
