The Senior Managing Editor is responsible for driving editorial quality, operational excellence, and successful delivery of educational publishing projects. This role leads editorial teams, manages complex workflows, and partners with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure materials are accurate, accessible, and delivered on schedule.
Requirements
- Experienced editorial leader with a strong background in educational publishing, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- 8+ years of editorial experience, preferably within educational publishing.
- 5+ years of experience managing large-scale projects, complex workflows, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven experience managing contractors, budgets, timelines, and production processes.
- Strong understanding of editorial and publishing processes across print and digital platforms.
- Experience with content management systems, digital asset management systems, and integrated publishing workflows.
- Experience incorporating AI tools into editorial or publishing processes to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and frameworks, including SAFe, is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Monday.com, Microsoft Project, JIRA, or Confluence.
- Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders at various levels.
