Senior Manager, US Medical Affairs, Nutritionals & Digestive Health
About the role
The Senior Manager, Nutritionals and Digestive Health, for the US Medical Affairs team is an expert supporting the company’s objectives for the US Nutritionals and Digestive Health brands. The role will represent US Medical in Brand teams, and interface with US Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Global Medical Affairs and other key internal stakeholders. This role will support and execute programs relevant to new product development and medical plans and activities, as well as local promotional review and approvals. This person must carry out this role in accordance with departmental SOPs, Bayer corporate policy, and other legal & regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical and scientific expertise in the assessment and interpretation of efficacy, safety, and other aspects of scientific studies as well as other medical and scientific material and information
- Ability to translate scientific knowledge to support commercialization activities such as advertising claims substantiation and defense and new product opportunities for the Nutritionals and Digestive Health categories
- Conduct timely medical and scientific assessments of ingredients, products, technologies, and processes as a member of cross-functional teams
- Provide medical guidance on the development of new products and overall category knowledge on competitive and existing brands
- Translate science into differentiated, meaningful, and relevant benefits to consumers and fully and accurately substantiate claim language to be used in messaging, advertising and other promotional materials based on competent and reliable scientific evidence (CARSE)
- Ensure the accuracy of promotional material and representation of the medical function in the promotional material review process for assigned products and categories
- Effectively communicate with the marketing/commercialization groups as well as technical groups in identifying scientific insights
- Assist with strategic planning, guidance and implementation of medical programs, such as clinical studies, continuing medical education, publications, and thought leader networks
Required Qualifications
- An advanced degree (PharmD, PhD or MD) in Nutrition Science or related scientific field
- Thorough knowledge of sciences relevant to nutrition: physiology, metabolism, nutritional biochemistry, clinical research
- Experience in medical affairs and/or clinical research and development
- Experience working with the brand team and other cross functional business partners
- Good understanding of the key pre-clinical and clinical trial design elements, including statistical considerations, operations and interpretation of these activities as well as regulatory requirements
- Strong competencies in the interpretation and assimilation of scientific data
- Requires strong communication skills, oral and written, as well as interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact collaboratively and influence colleagues at all levels within Bayer
Preferred Qualifications
- About 2 years of postgraduate training or equivalent relevant work experience
- MD / Nutritionist
- RD (Registered Dietitian)
- Digestive Health experience
- Experience with dietary supplements
- Safety/PV
Pay
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $111,360 - 167,040. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
