Senior Manager/Team Lead, Enterprise Applications (Enterprise Automation)
Location: Newark, NJ – mostly remote (onsite 2 days per month)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (target conversion in approximately 90 days)
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced technology leader to lead its Enterprise Automation organization within Information Technology. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving enterprise automation strategy, application modernization, AI-enabled transformation, and software delivery across a large portfolio of enterprise business applications. You'll lead a team of approximately 45-60 technology professionals through multiple Team Leads while partnering closely with executive business stakeholders to modernize critical business processes. Responsibilities
- Lead the Enterprise Automation organization supporting mission-critical enterprise applications
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for workflow automation and intelligent automation platforms
- Drive modernization initiatives, transitioning from traditional RPA to AI-enabled automation solutions
- Partner with executive business leaders to identify automation opportunities and improve operational efficiency
- Oversee application architecture, software development, integration, production support, and SDLC governance
- Lead multiple managers overseeing teams of Business Systems Analysts, Software Engineers, Automation Developers, and Production Support professionals
- Manage vendor relationships, consulting partners, budgets, and offshore resources
- Champion Agile delivery, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years leading enterprise application development, workflow automation, or software engineering organizations
- 5+ years managing managers or Team Leads
- Experience leading organizations of approximately 40-60 technology professionals
- Strong background with enterprise workflow or business process automation platforms (IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) strongly preferred)
- Experience managing enterprise software through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Proven success delivering large-scale enterprise applications and modernization initiatives
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with enterprise architecture, APIs, integrations, and distributed applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare payer or managed care experience
- IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW)
- IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM)
- UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar RPA platforms
- AI, Intelligent Automation, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or Agentic AI initiatives
- Experience transitioning organizations from RPA to AI-driven automation
- Agile, Scrum, or SAFe leadership
- Vendor management and offshore delivery experience
- Cloud-based enterprise applications and modern integration architectures
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, CSM, or SAFe certifications
