About the Role

Supports team members in designing and architecting infrastructure and service, sharing guidance on practices for reliability and functionality. Provides direction to ensure accurate forecasting and ensure systems have adequate resources, identifying resource gaps. Maintains a collaborative relationship with the software development team to create reliable, scalable infrastructures. Monitors data collection and ensures team members optimize operations and infrastructure reliability. Aids in incident response activities to ensure service reliability. Implements standards for identifying and recommending automation. Ensures team members communicate information and articulate the impact of changes. Serves as a senior management point and shares expectations for documentation, experimentation with new technology, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Capacity Ingestion and Management:
    • Supports team members in designing and architecting infrastructure and/or service, sharing guidance on practices for reliability and functionality.
    • Supervises team members to ensure accurate forecasting of infrastructure demands and response to capacity needs, identifying resource gaps.
    • Maintains collaboration with the software development team to develop reliable and scalable infrastructures.
    • Implements expectations for identifying opportunities for prototyping and manages prototyping initiatives.
  • Incident and Service Lifecycle Management:
    • Monitors data collection, triage, technical analysis, and redirection to optimize operations and infrastructure reliability.
    • Provides support for monitoring services, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of performance and documentation.
    • Aids in incident response, root cause analyses, and maintenance activities (e.g., software installs, version upgrades).
    • Monitors health and performance reporting, ensuring appropriate actions based on data trends.
    • Ensures adherence to procedures for provisioning infrastructure, applications, and services.
    • Encourages experimentation with new approaches for decommissioning unneeded objects.
  • Automation:
    • Implements standards for identifying and recommending automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Reviews and provides feedback on design, automation tools, or scripts, leading implementation efforts.
    • Shares strategies for testing automations to ensure correct performance and expected results.
  • Technical Communication and Guidance:
    • Reviews and provides feedback on release notes, ensuring comprehensive communication about services and technology.
    • Articulates the potential impact of infrastructure, feature, and tool changes across team operations.
    • Serves as a resource for team members on effective communication practices.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution:
    • Serves as a senior management escalation point for incidents and complex issues.
    • Monitors resolution of technical issues spanning multiple services, ensuring effective investigation and debugging.
    • Shares expectations for documenting incidents and performing root cause analyses.
    • Implements guidelines for post-mortem procedures to prevent incident reoccurrence.
    • Ensures adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) with customers.
  • Innovation and Improvement:
    • Sets expectations for conducting experiments and evaluating cutting-edge tools to optimize performance and reliability.
    • Manages and contributes to prioritizing initiatives to improve performance bottlenecks and deployments.
    • Implements standards for developing and maintaining knowledge of site reliability trends.
    • Leverages analyses and data to contribute to business development decisions.
  • Planning and Execution:
    • Manages multiple medium- to large-scale projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met.
    • Provides direction on project work, setting priorities aligned with business needs.
    • Guides teams on adjusting plans to accommodate resource or timeline changes.
  • Collaboration and Partnership:
    • Drives cross-functional partnerships to align expectations and shared objectives.
    • Coaches team members to develop strategic relationships with business leaders and stakeholders.
    • Promotes inclusivity by seeking and listening to diverse perspectives.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Provides direction on addressing complex operational and technical issues.
    • Reviews and provides insights into unresolved or critical issues to identify solutions.
  • Continuous Learning:
    • Models continuous learning to deepen expertise and stay ahead of industry trends.
    • Leverages feedback to drive personal and team skill improvements.
    • Identifies skill gaps and empowers team members to pursue learning opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Guides teams to adopt new approaches and encourages feedback for improvement.
  • Performance and Development:
    • Drives performance across teams by providing feedback and coaching aligned with performance management processes.
    • Discusses development goals with team members and aligns them with organizational goals.
    • Develops and manages the talent acquisition pipeline, including leading interviews and monitoring promotion eligibility.

Qualifications

Certain U.S.-based or U.S. customer/client-facing roles may require compliance with applicable requirements, such as immunization, occupational health mandates, and/or drug testing.

Pay

Hiring range in the U.S.: $121,500 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
