About the Role
Simply Business is seeking a visionary Senior Manager, SEO & GEO to lead our search strategy into the next era. This role sits at the intersection of marketing strategy and technical execution, focusing on evolving search beyond keywords to include user experience, Generative AI, and large language models. You will design and deploy systems that enable the team to move faster and focus on high-leverage work, including architecting autonomous agents, real-time workflows, and scalable technical automations. This is not a traditional SEO role—you will lead experimentation and transform our marketing engine into a self-sustaining growth system.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Evolve the framework and strategy for SEO, Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and Large Language Models (LLM), aligning with business and product goals while establishing a clear learning agenda.
- Data-Driven Execution: Create and drive the SEO and GEO roadmap, managing prioritization, execution, and optimization of performance-oriented initiatives. Conduct in-depth analysis on keywords, topic clusters, and entities to expand content authority and improve discoverability across search and AI ecosystems.
- Marketing Automation & AI Agents: Pilot and scale AI tools, vendor platforms, and automated workflows to streamline repetitive tasks. Test autonomous agents and programmatic scripts for high-impact use cases like competitive content gap analysis, forum sentiment tracking, and bot crawl-readiness.
- Experimentation & Reporting: Run structured tests to analyze how content formats and technical configurations impact visibility across LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity). Maintain dashboards tracking traditional SEO rankings alongside brand sentiment and citation share within LLM environments to provide actionable insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with agencies, vendors, and internal teams (Paid Media, Content, Operations, Product, and Engineering) to translate strategy into action. Establish EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) practices, including authorship, freshness workflows, net-new content, and technical enhancements like structured data.
- Product Partnership & Discoverability: Collaborate with product teams to recommend strategic initiatives improving discoverability, such as programmatic pages, content hubs, off-site mentions, widgets, and quizzes to optimize visibility in traditional and emerging search platforms.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay ahead of the curve by researching and applying new methodologies in the evolving AI search landscape. Set and mold best practices for internal teams and clients to ensure a cutting-edge approach.
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years in SEO, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful, large-scale organic search strategies.
- AI, LLM & RAG Familiarity: Demonstrated fluency in how Large Language Models search, retrieve data (Retrieval-Augmented Generation / RAG), and evaluate sources. Experience building and testing tools utilizing LLM-powered orchestration or agent frameworks is highly preferred.
- Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of modern web technologies and how search and AI bots crawl, index, and rank sites. Proficiency in technical SEO, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Schema Markup.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog. Ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable, business-focused insights.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
- Leadership: Experience in a senior or leadership role, with a proven ability to communicate strategy, lead agency and vendor relationships, mentor team members, and drive collaboration across diverse business units.
