Senior Manager, Security Systems and Technology
Job Summary
A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.
About the Role
We're standing up a new pillar within Corporate Security— and we're looking for the leader to build it. As Senior Manager, Security Systems and Technology, you will own the strategy, architecture, and operation of every system that protects Roblox's people, facilities, and physical assets globally.
Responsibilities
- Build the pillar. Assess our current physical security technology footprint end-to-end and define a clear roadmap—what to keep, what to retire, what to add, and the order to do it in.
- Set and maintain high standards for the design, configuration, operation, and quality assurance of all Physical Identity and Access Management (PIAM) systems, video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection, and intercom platforms across every Roblox site.
- Own the vendor strategy. Build and manage relationships with security systems integrators, project management partners, and a network of local vendors for installation, maintenance, and repairs across global sites. Negotiate contracts, set SLAs, and hold partners accountable.
- Own the budget and full equipment lifecycle for physical security technology—capital planning, OpEx forecasting, procurement, deployment, refresh, and decommissioning.
- Partner with Facilities on new builds and renovations, ensuring physical security is designed in from day one and that every new site opens with the right access control, video, and monitoring footprint.
- Lead the deployment and integration of modern technologies—including AI, automation, biometrics, and mobile credentials—to streamline how Roblox issues, manages, and audits physical access.
- Partner with the GSOC to configure and continuously improve access control (Genetec) and video platforms so the monitoring team has the tools, alerts, and workflows they need to operate effectively 24/7.
- Develop, implement, and manage physical access control policies and procedures, and oversee the issuance, revocation, and lifecycle of physical and mobile credentials for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Partner with Data & Analytics to centralize access logs and physical security telemetry, and build the dashboards and metrics that surface risk and measure program effectiveness.
- Cross-functionally with the GSOC, Data Center Security, Workplace, People, IT, IAM, Legal, and Trust & Safety to ensure physical security technology integrates cleanly with Roblox's broader ecosystem.
- Maintain the health of the environment through patching, firmware management, configuration backups, and routine audits of system performance—and document everything that matters: incident reports, system changes, runbooks, and the tribal knowledge that otherwise walks out the door.
- Hire, develop, and retain the engineers and specialists who will operate this stack as it scales.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with increasing scope and complexity in physical security technology, security systems engineering, or a closely related discipline at a multinational company; at least 5 years in a people-management role.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with enterprise physical security platforms: access control systems (Genetec, Lenel, CCURE, or equivalent), video management (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, or equivalent), intrusion detection, intercom, and credentialing systems.
- Experience standing up and managing vendor portfolios at scale—integrators, project managers, and a distributed network of local installation and maintenance partners.
- Demonstrated ownership of a meaningful budget, including capital planning, contract negotiation, and full-lifecycle equipment management.
- Direct experience partnering with or operating a GSOC, SOC, or similar 24/7 monitoring environment, and strong troubleshooting instincts across the full stack—devices, servers, networks, and integrations—with the discipline to root-cause rather than reset.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, switches) and how security systems traverse a network.
- Strong project and program management skills, with experience setting and achieving objectives through OKRs or similar frameworks.
- Up-to-date knowledge of global physical security trends, regulations, and compliance requirements, including data privacy considerations for physical security data.
Qualifications
- Entertainment, technology, gaming, or critical infrastructure sectors experience is highly desirable.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. You can stand up programs where the requirements are still being written, and gather data and act decisively even when information is incomplete.
- Collaborative. You love working with your direct team and cross-functional partners, and you can build consensus without relying on positional authority.
- Willing to travel regionally and internationally as required (approximately 25%).
