Working under the authority of a Principal, the Senior Manager, Risk Advisory Services manages and delivers high-value solutions to multiple clients in technology environments, focusing on system security, access controls, backup recovery procedures, and IS organization and administration practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the documentation and testing of application and automated controls across a wide range of software applications.
- Acts as the primary client contact for questions, progress updates, challenges, and issues identified during engagements.
- Conducts informational interviews and facilitates meetings with client management as needed.
- Collaborates with the Engagement Partner to communicate control gaps, process improvements, and risk management recommendations to the client’s Audit Committee and management.
- Ensures the client service team analyzes client processes, risks, and controls effectively.
- Oversees the development of high-quality deliverables and solutions to client issues, ensuring exceptional client service.
- Develops risk-based audit plans and ensures efficient, effective project plans are in place.
- Reviews, approves, and seeks Partner approval for engagement budgets, identifying opportunities to improve engagement efficiencies.
- Ensures timely preparation of billings, collections, and recommendations for adjustments to engagement realization.
- Leads assigned client engagements, ensuring engagement metrics and economics are achieved.
- Identifies and directs the use of research aids (e.g., databases, trade publications) to deepen understanding of the client’s industry.
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with client personnel, including management.
- Prepares formal and informal presentations for client meetings, seeking Partner review and approval before delivery.
- Collaborates with Risk Advisory Services (RAS) and other practice partners to deliver optimal solutions to clients and expand market presence.
- Identifies new business opportunities to grow the RAS practice and communicates them to the practice partner.
- Works directly with the Partner to develop proposals, reports, and conduct research as needed.
- Manages marketing and business development activities, including updating marketing materials and website content.
- Develops thought leadership for the RAS practice by creating whitepapers and presentations on relevant topics.
- Fosters a positive, learning-oriented, and client-service-focused attitude among managers, seniors, and staff.
- Supervises the workload of Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on assigned engagements, reviewing their work product.
- Ensures team members are trained on relevant software and evaluates their performance, providing feedback and development goals.
- Mentors Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, promoting professional growth.
- Travels up to 30% of the time.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Intelligence (required). MBA or other relevant advanced degree (preferred).
- Ten (10) years of experience with a public accounting firm or Fortune 1000 company performing Risk Assessments, internal audits, Sarbanes-Oxley Readiness services, internal control assessments, or management consulting as a Financial, Operational, or Information Technology Subject Matter Expert (required).
- Experience performing audits within a public accounting environment (required).
- Experience auditing specific industries (e.g., manufacturing, retail, distribution, energy) based on RAS practice needs (required).
- Significant supervisory experience (required).
- Experience performing process reviews, systems reviews, and reviews of application controls (required).
- Experience with internal controls, including process control design, flowchart preparation, control matrices, documentation and testing of controls, and identification/reporting of control gaps (required).
- Experience conducting audit planning, developing audit programs, performing testing, preparing work papers, and drafting audit reports (required).
- Experience in client marketing, including managing multiple client pursuits and proposal efforts (preferred).
- Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), or equivalent (required).
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with ACL, IDEA, and MS Access (preferred).
- Experience using assurance applications and research tools appropriate for this role (preferred).
- Solid understanding of planning and coordinating all stages of an internal audit.
- Knowledge of internal accounting controls, professional standards, and regulations.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including business and report writing.
- Ability to adapt communication style for professionals at all levels within client organizations and the firm.
- Ability to multi-task effectively while working independently or within a team.
- Recognition as a thought leader in governance, risk, and control.
- Superior analytical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues.
- Capability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Strong project management skills.
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS, SEC, and PCAOB reporting rules; familiarity with IFRS (a plus).
- Strong people development and delegation skills, including training, instruction, and engagement scheduling/budgeting.
- Executive presence to act as the primary client contact, preparing and presenting to clients and prospects.
- Ability to resolve complex business issues and build strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
Pay
Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The following ranges apply:
- California: $160,000 - $190,000
- Colorado: $160,000 - $190,000
- Illinois: $160,000 - $190,000
- Maryland: $160,000 - $190,000
- Massachusetts: $160,000 - $190,000
- Minnesota: $160,000 - $190,000
- New Jersey: $160,000 - $190,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $160,000 - $190,000
- Washington: $160,000 - $190,000
- Vermont: $160,000 - $190,000
- Washington DC: $160,000 - $190,000
