About the Role

The Senior Manager / Research Manager / Engineering Manager at Swift plays a central role in leading projects, shaping client engagements, and ensuring high-quality delivery across our service areas. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with consulting experience who enjoys managing multidisciplinary projects, engaging directly with clients, and helping create actionable guidance and trusted results.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership and Delivery
    • Lead and manage consulting engagements from scoping through delivery, ensuring deliverables are on time, well-structured, and aligned with client needs.
    • Oversee workstreams, coordinate project teams, and guide research, analysis, and reporting.
    • Support project budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Client Engagement
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for client teams on assigned projects.
    • Present findings and recommendations clearly and confidently to clients.
    • Create clear, structured reports.
  • Research & Analysis
    • Conduct rigorous research, analysis, and data synthesis on a variety of clean energy topics including electrification, efficiency, consumer behavior, demand flexibility, and more.
    • Translate complex information into concise, client-ready insights and actionable recommendations.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, policy developments, and best practices in the power sector.
  • Business Development
    • Contribute to the development of internal tools, templates, and knowledge repositories.
    • Contribute to proposal development and scopes of work.
    • Support market and opportunity scans to inform Swift’s growth.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in consulting, energy efficiency, policy, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage client engagements.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with a track record of producing clear, structured deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in a small, evolving firm.
  • Experience working with utilities, public agencies, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of Swift’s core practice areas.
  • Familiarity with power sector, energy policy, or energy-related R&D initiatives.
  • Prior consulting experience with cross-functional teams.
