About the role
As Senior Manager, Relationship Marketing Strategy, you will join a team of talented marketers focused on helping Merkle clients achieve their business goals. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients and the Merkle account team, leveraging both analytic and creative thinking to solve client problems. Your ability to communicate strategy will inspire confidence and drive execution. Success in this role requires a passion for solving client challenges and a deep understanding of how businesses, brands, and customers interact—particularly the evolving role of data and technology in these relationships. You will identify growth opportunities and develop recommendations to strengthen client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of strategic omni-channel marketing plans.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, translating new technology—especially in 1st party data marketing and CRM—into innovative marketing ideas for clients.
- Monitor current marketing trends, emerging technology solutions, and competitive strategies, then apply them to generate new client marketing ideas.
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with key client contacts and executives.
- Deliver meaningful client value through a mix of best-practice solutions and original thinking.
- Collaborate with team leadership (account management, operations, creative, analytics) and partner agencies to turn ideas into executable plans.
- Identify data points and measurements to demonstrate the impact of strategy on client business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 7+ years of experience in data-driven marketing, with a focus on CRM, email, and online/offline media.
- 3+ years of experience working in an agency or consulting firm.
- Experience with Braze (preferred).
- Experience developing solutions to support the sale of new services to clients.
- Hands-on skills using data and research to guide decisions, including proficiency in Excel (complex spreadsheets) and research tools.
- Experience translating data analysis into relevant marketing recommendations and presentations, with proficiency in PowerPoint.
- Comfort working in a matrixed organization with a high degree of autonomy.
- Average travel of 20-40% (contingent on client comfort level).
Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $94,000–$125,000. Placement within the range is based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.

Schedule
Employees within commutable distance of a hub office (Chicago, metro Detroit, Los Angeles, or New York City) are required to work from the office three days per week (two days per week for Los Angeles-based employees). Those outside a commutable range may be designated as remote, depending on role and business needs. Flexibility is expected to meet company and client needs, which may include in-office attendance.
