Senior Manager - Quality Engineering and Continuous Improvement – Dead tank Circuit-breakers
About the role
This role leads the definition, deployment, and sustainment of quality engineering processes across the Dead-tank high-voltage circuit breakers product portfolio. The incumbent acts as the primary technical lead for investigations into mechanical and insulation failures, utilizes advanced Partial Discharge (PD) analysis to identify root causes and implement sustainable Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and leads the investigation and resolution of complex quality issues.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and lifecycle management of FMEA (Design & Process), MSA, and SPC methodologies.
Ensure these tools are not just documented but effectively utilized to drive process stability.
Act as the primary technical lead for investigations into mechanical and insulation failures.
Utilize advanced Partial Discharge (PD) analysis to identify root causes and implement sustainable Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Facilitate 8D and A3 structured problem-solving sessions for high-complexity issues.
Upskill plant teams by coaching them on effective containment and prevention techniques.
Drive Quality Kaizen initiatives to improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
Conduct thorough manufacturing process audits to identify variance, detect potential escapes, and enhance product robustness.
Provide dedicated quality assurance for NPI and Transfer of Work (TOW) projects.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
8–10 years of professional experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance within the power transmission or high-voltage industry.
Proven practitioner of structured problem-solving (8D, A3, Why-Why, Fault Tree Analysis).
Strong working knowledge of core quality tools: FMEA, MSA, SPC, and ISO 9001 audit protocols.
Demonstrated success in leading quality improvements, reducing defects, and collaborating with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
Qualifications
Technical expertise in HV circuit breakers, specifically in diagnosing insulation and mechanical failure modes.
Subject matter expert in Dead-tank high-voltage circuit breakers products.
Skills
Advanced Partial Discharge (PD) analysis.
Structured problem-solving techniques (8D, A3, Why-Why, Fault Tree Analysis).
FMEA, MSA, SPC, and ISO 9001 audit protocols.
