About the role

The Senior Manager, Project Management provides strategic leadership for the successful execution of large, complex transmission, substation, and capital infrastructure distribution projects and programs, typically valued at $175 million or below per project (5-year $500M portfolio) within the ELL-SE and ENOI territories. This role is accountable for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Entergy's quality, governance, and operational excellence standards while supporting the company's long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Champions a culture where safety is the highest priority by establishing clear expectations, reinforcing safe behaviors, conducting meaningful field engagement, and ensuring safety is integrated into every phase of project planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Provides strategic leadership for one or more large, complex transmission, substation, or capital infrastructure projects and programs, typically valued at $100 million or greater, ensuring successful delivery of safety, quality, schedule, financial, and operational objectives.
  • Buils, develops, and leads high-performing, multidisciplinary project teams by establishing clear roles, expectations, accountability, and performance standards while coaching and mentoring Project Managers, Project Controls personnel, and other team members.
  • Leads project execution through Entergy's Stage Gate Process by ensuring all required deliverables, governance requirements, approvals, estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and business cases are complete, accurate, and decision-ready.
  • Demonstrates full financial ownership of assigned projects by managing budgets, working forecasts, estimates at completion (EAC), contingency, cash flow, change management, productivity, and financial performance while identifying opportunities to improve forecast accuracy and overall project value.
  • Proactively identifies, evaluates, mitigates, and communicates project risks and opportunities before they impact safety, schedule, cost, quality, or operational readiness. Escalates significant issues with recommended mitigation strategies and business solutions.
  • Leads cross-functional coordination between Engineering, Construction, Supply Chain, Environmental, Real Estate, Regulatory, Operations, Project Controls, and external contractors to align priorities, remove execution barriers, and deliver predictable project outcomes.
  • Serves as the primary Owner's Representative or Contract Manager, providing commercial leadership throughout project execution, including contract administration, contractor performance management, change order negotiations, claims avoidance, dispute resolution, invoice approval, and contractual compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains disciplined project controls by partnering with Project Controls to ensure effective cost management, schedule management, earned value reporting, risk management, document control, forecasting, and change control processes are consistently executed.
  • Provides executive-level project communications by preparing and delivering concise, accurate, and actionable presentations and status updates that clearly communicate project performance, financial health, critical path activities, emerging risks, key decisions, and recommended actions.
  • Maintains a strong field presence by routinely visiting project sites to reinforce safety expectations, verify quality of work, engage with project teams and contractors, remove obstacles to execution, and strengthen relationships with stakeholders.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with internal customers, operating companies, contractors, consultants, regulators, and community stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful project execution.
  • Makes timely, sound business decisions while balancing safety, operational impacts, schedule, cost, quality, customer commitments, and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve project execution through standardization, lessons learned, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organizational performance, consistency, and project delivery.
  • Develops future organizational capability by mentoring employees, strengthening project management processes, promoting leadership development, supporting succession planning, and fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Performs storm restoration, emergency response, and other business continuity responsibilities as required in support of Entergy's commitment to providing safe and reliable electric service.

Requirements

  • Minimum education required of the position: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum experience required of the position: 10 years of relevant experience minimum.
