Senior Manager, PR & Communications, North America

About the role
As a key member of the Salomon marketing team, the Senior Manager, PR & Communications is responsible for delivering and executing the PR and communications plan in North America for the run, outdoor, and sportstyle categories. This role works with the Director of Marketing to define seasonal initiatives supporting the region’s commercial and brand-building objectives, manages external agencies, and serves as the direct point of contact with the global brand for all PR topics. The Senior Manager ensures a strategic mix of brand, product, athlete, event, and trade communication aligned with the brand calendar and defines both quantitative and qualitative ROI for PR efforts. Collaboration across PR, marketing, and merchandising teams is a significant focus.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the North America PR strategy, acting as the liaison between global and local teams for efficiency.
- Drive authentic storytelling around brand, athletes, products, events, and milestones.
- Localize global communications for the North American market, collaborating with global, regional, and agency partner teams.
- Integrate PR strategy into launch plans aligned with the brand calendar and all channels.
- Develop and execute PR and media training, including creating new training opportunities for employees.
- Maintain relationships with key North American media, industry influencers, and strategic partners in collaboration with agency teams.
- Manage external PR agencies, including briefing, budgeting, and tracking results.
- Oversee media opportunities and spokesperson strategy, working closely with agency teams.
- Execute trade and consumer communications in partnership with agency teams.
- Distribute global press materials to in-house teams and agency partners with clear calls to action.
- Analyze media and industry trends to optimize communications strategy and future planning.
- Support press release creation and copywriting as needed.
- Serve as the in-house PR expert for North America, supporting event communication, wholesale partner needs, and internal communications.
- Align weekly with internal global partners and brief the Integrated Marketing Manager on PR plans and embargos.
- Manage brand store communication, including press releases, social media calendars, interviews, and elevated event support.
- Handle interview requests for internal Salomon staff and support the process.
- Assess and recommend media opportunities for leadership and global team involvement.
- Support PR agencies in trade activations such as panels, gifting, early or exclusive coverage.
- Collaborate with HQ teams on global event alignment and communication.
- Own the PR scorecard in alignment with global reporting cadence.
- Lead PR planning for epicenter events and manage tradeshow PR with agency collaboration.
- Drive events and support content needs.
- Manage the PR budget, including agency contracts, travel, media trips, seeding product, and gifting moments.
- Develop a communications calendar consistent with global standards and collaborate on process improvements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of practical experience in the public relations sector, with a preference for running, fashion, and/or outdoor industry experience (both endemic and non-endemic reach).
- B.S. or B.A. in Business, Marketing, Brand Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience building narratives for both trade and consumer audiences.
- Demonstrated proficiency in affiliate networks.
