Senior Manager, PR & Communications
About the role
Flexport operates at the intersection of global trade, technology, and policy—shaping how Flexport shows up in the world: in the press, on our blog, across social channels, in customer inboxes, and inside the company. This high-visibility, high-trust role works directly with our CEO & Founder and leadership team to craft Flexport’s narrative and ensure we lead conversations on supply chain disruptions, trade policy, AI innovation, and the future of logistics. You’ll toggle between pitching Tier 1 reporters, writing customer emails, coaching executives for live interviews, and building a content calendar that ties Flexport’s story to the biggest themes in global commerce.
Responsibilities
- Public Relations & Media Support
- Drive Flexport’s PR strategy end-to-end: proactive media pitching, inbound media management, press releases, and rapid response.
- Define and evolve Flexport’s narrative—how we talk about ourselves, connect our platform to macro stories reshaping global trade, and differentiate from legacy freight forwarders.
- Influence content strategy across blog, social media, website, webinars, and other owned channels.
- Build and deepen relationships with key reporters covering logistics, trade, technology, and business.
- Develop and execute a thought leadership program positioning Flexport’s CEO & Founder and senior leaders as go-to voices on global trade, supply chain innovation, and AI in logistics.
- Staff and prep spokespeople for interviews, panels, and media appearances—including media training, message development, and briefing documents.
- Monitor the news cycle for opportunities to insert Flexport into breaking stories and industry narratives.
- Partner with Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, and Content Marketing to align content with campaigns, product launches, and pipeline objectives.
- Communications
- Own the voice and cadence of Flexport’s customer communications outside product and transactional workflows—service updates, policy changes, product announcements, and high-stakes moments like trade policy shifts or service disruptions.
- Develop frameworks and templates to ensure customer-facing communications are timely, accurate, and on-brand.
- Partner with Customer Success, Operations, and Product teams to coordinate messaging and ensure alignment across touchpoints.
- AI & Efficiency
- Leverage AI tools across communications—drafting and editing content, media monitoring, research, and automating repetitive workflows—to enable a lean team to operate with the output and speed of a larger one.
- Stay current on AI advancements in PR, content, and communications, and integrate new tools and approaches into daily work.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience spanning PR and communications, ideally with a mix of agency and in-house experience.
- Proven media relationships and a track record of landing meaningful coverage in top-tier business, trade, and technology outlets.
- Experience as a communications partner to senior executives—prepping leaders for interviews, developing thought leadership platforms, and translating vision into public narrative.
- Strong editorial instincts and ability to build a content program from strategy through execution.
- Experience owning customer communications in a B2B environment, especially during complex or sensitive moments like service changes or industry disruptions.
- Ability to move fast, manage multiple workstreams, and exercise excellent judgment about messaging timing and delivery.
- Familiarity with logistics, supply chain, or trade industry is a plus, but fast learners with deep B2B or tech experience can thrive.
- Active use of AI tools to drive efficiencies in content production, media monitoring, research, and workflow automation.
