About the role

At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we are building the next generation of cloud services that power mission-critical workloads for customers around the world. OCI combines the speed, ownership, and innovation of a startup with the scale, reliability, and customer focus of one of the world’s leading technology companies. Cloud Hardware Support (CHS) plays a critical role in maintaining the health, reliability, and growth of OCI’s global data center infrastructure.

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development to lead teams responsible for designing, building, and operating software systems that support OCI data center operations at cloud scale. These systems help unify operational workflows, guide repair execution, automate manual processes, improve inventory and task visibility, and provide analytics that enable better decision-making across large-scale infrastructure environments.

In this role, you will lead software development teams building cloud-native services, internal platforms, workflow systems, user experiences, and analytics capabilities that support data center growth and operational excellence. You will own delivery, architecture, reliability, and operational health across multiple software areas while developing strong engineering leaders and technical talent.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in distributed systems, cloud services, operational platforms, and people leadership. You are comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-scale environments, driving technical strategy, building durable teams, and partnering across engineering, product, operations, and infrastructure organizations to deliver measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and develop high-performing software engineering teams responsible for cloud-scale operational platforms.
  • Own the design, delivery, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of software services used to support OCI data center operations.
  • Drive technical strategy and execution across systems that support task management, workflow automation, guided procedures, inventory integration, operational analytics, and collaboration.
  • Partner with product managers, technical program managers, operations leaders, and engineering stakeholders to define roadmaps, prioritize investments, and deliver high-impact software.
  • Build platforms that simplify complex operational workflows and reduce manual, repetitive, or error-prone work for data center teams.
  • Establish strong engineering practices around architecture, service ownership, observability, testing, deployment, security, incident response, and operational readiness.
  • Lead teams through the full software lifecycle, including requirements definition, technical design, implementation, launch, production operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers, technical leads, and senior engineers through coaching, feedback, career development, and performance management.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain strong engineering talent while building a culture of ownership, inclusion, technical excellence, and customer focus.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across complex technical and organizational boundaries, making clear trade-offs between speed, quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Use metrics, analytics, and operational feedback to continuously improve software quality, system performance, user experience, and business outcomes.
  • Champion automation, scalable architecture, and data-driven decision-making as core mechanisms for supporting OCI’s continued infrastructure growth.
  • Participate in operational reviews, customer escalations, roadmap discussions, and technical deep dives as needed to ensure services meet high standards for availability and effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture where teams think boldly, execute with urgency, learn continuously, and build software that makes data center support simpler, faster, safer, and more reliable.
