Platform Engineering Senior Manager
About the role
The Platform Engineering Senior Manager is a strategic leader who effectively cascades functional strategy and contributes to the development of organizational policies in Platform Engineering and Product Application Security Engineering. This role translates business segment strategy into functional plans and guides execution to ensure high performance and reliability of the company’s cloud and on-premises systems. The position leads teams to develop new methods and solve complex challenges, creating systems that are secure by design and anticipating security risks.
This position is located at our Cleveland Headquarters office and is not hybrid or remote. It is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B visa conversion. A criminal history review is required due to access to confidential and proprietary information.
This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus under the Company’s applicable plans.
Responsibilities
- Direct operational units and multiple integrated departments through lower management.
- Lead teams to develop new methods and solve complex technical and security challenges.
- Support the talent strategy through hiring, onboarding, learning & development, performance management, succession planning, engagement, recognition, and inclusion, diversity, and equity practices.
- Foster a work environment that encourages integrity and respect.
- Set employee objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, provide feedback, and mentor team members.
- Support employee career development.
- Contribute to the development of strategies for a function or multiple departments.
- Participate with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives.
- Make final decisions on implementation and ensure operational effectiveness.
- Cascade functional strategy and contribute to organizational policy development.
- Manage budgets impacting multiple departments.
- Work on complex, undefined problems where fundamental principles may not fully apply.
- Translate business segment strategy into functional plans and guide execution.
- Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
- Ensure budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
- Interact with senior management, executives, and major customers to negotiate significant organizational matters.
- Reconcile multiple stakeholder views to drive business results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology (IT) or a related field. In lieu of a degree, at least 11 years of experience in IT.
- 8+ years of experience in IT.
- 4+ years of experience managing direct reports.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise SaaS platforms and vendor relationships, including platform lifecycle management, contract and license optimization, security and compliance oversight, service-level management, and adoption of SaaS best practices.
- Experience in platform engineering.
- 8+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale engineering organizations supporting mission-critical enterprise platforms and digital customer experiences.
- Experience establishing application platform engineering governance, operating models, and organizational structures that drive scalability, reliability, security, and business value across multiple product and engineering domains.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and align technology investments with business strategy while leading complex, multi-platform ecosystems (e.g., identity, commerce, content, search, data, and architecture).
- Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional technology initiatives on time and within budget, with accountability for strategic roadmaps, milestone achievement, resource planning, and measurable business outcomes.
- Experience establishing and leading operational excellence practices for enterprise platforms, including service reliability, availability, performance management, incident response, disaster recovery, observability, and continuous improvement programs.
