About the role

The Senior Manager of Operations Development is responsible for leading the Inspection Center Operations Development team through continuous improvement projects using lean methodologies. This position works closely with all departments to deliver cost and quality improvements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Takes a proactive approach in assessing new continuous improvement opportunities and provides guidance to the team on appropriate courses of action
  • Partners with Inspection Center functional experts to create and set vehicle standards to best meet business needs and provide an exceptional customer experience
  • Serves as a resource for the Reconditioning Training team when developing content regarding work processes, standards, etc.
  • Acts as a key thought partner to Inspection Center senior leadership on problem-solving initiatives
  • Reviews and provides guidance on Operations Development justification for major projects, with a cost savings greater than $1M within Inspection Center operations
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for continuous improvement by developing standard work and visual training within existing processes
  • Serves as a cross-functional business partner across the organization to provide direction on the creation of labor standards and line staffing models
  • Creates strong working relationships within all levels of the organization
  • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members in order to drive results
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety guidelines

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (MBA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • At least 3 years of experience managing cross-functional teams or projects (Ideally with direct reports)
  • Proven track record of implementing successful projects that impact the bottom line
  • Knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing
  • General knowledge of OHSA guidelines
  • Willingness to travel between Carvana facilities across the U.S., as projects require
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A clean driving record with no more than two moving violations or DUI’s in the last three years
  • Excellent communications skills to all levels of the organization, oral and written
  • Strong analysis and decision-making ability
  • Excellent facilitation skills through engagement, diplomacy, and diverse opinions
  • Proficient computer skills including AutoCAD, Excel, Word
