About the role
The Senior Manager, Finance & Strategy will oversee the finance and strategy for DoorDash's DashMart business. This includes sizing opportunities, making strategic decisions, overseeing financial reporting and forecasting, holding cross-functional partners accountable, mentoring and developing new talent, advising the executive team, building models, and ensuring necessary processes, systems, and tools are in place.
Responsibilities
- Work with GMs and product leaders to size opportunities and make strategic decisions and investments
- Oversee financial reporting and forecasting, and ensure a clear understanding of growth drivers, margin expansion, and competitive positioning
- Hold cross-functional partners accountable to their financial plan and outcomes, and work with them to get things back on track if they miss
- Mentor and develop new & existing talent to help them achieve their professional goals and scale the team
- Advise the executive team on ways to invest resources more efficiently, move faster, and do more
- Build models and develop analytical frameworks to evaluate new partnership opportunities, understand ROI/return on investment of various initiatives, and forecast demand more accurately
- Ensure necessary processes, systems, and tools are in place to streamline operations and help scale quickly
Requirements
- 9+ years of strategic finance, operational finance, FP&A, or investment banking experience at a high-growth technology startup or well-established company
- 3+ years of team management experience, building and developing a team is something you are passionate about
- Experience owning budgets for major functional areas within an organization, and working with operators on day-to-day execution to hit targets
- Highly motivated leader with a proven ability to exert influence on the direction of the company
- Experience building and reviewing highly complex models, and developing a team that sets the gold standard for financial modeling
- Comfortable operating at both a high-level and at the lowest level of detail, leading solutioning engagements from design through production
- Experience in logistics, on-demand services, marketplaces, and grocery industry is a plus
Qualifications
- Proven ability to earn the trust of senior leaders and influence their thinking on key strategic decisions
- Deep expertise in distributed databases, particularly Apache Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, and database agnostic abstractions
- Strong command of distributed system concepts such as replication, partitioning, tunable consistency, and failure recovery
- Experience with caching technologies like Redis or Memcached and knowledge of how to layer them effectively over storage systems to optimize for performance and cost
- Customer-first mindset, and experience working closely with product and platform teams to translate complex requirements into clean, scalable data models
- Experience mentoring engineers, influencing data architecture at scale, and fostering best practices in reliability, observability, and data access patterns
- Bonus: Experience with open-source distributed databases

Starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
