Senior Manager, Enterprise Payments

About the role

Since 2014, the mission-driven team at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has helped fuel the growth of the Stellar blockchain network, an open-source platform operating at high scale. We are expanding to support the rapidly growing and changing Stellar ecosystem and seek a seasoned Senior Manager, Enterprise Payments BD to drive active account growth and reaffirm Stellar’s position as the leading blockchain for payments. The candidate will integrate Real World Assets (RWA) and DeFi opportunities into their book of business, focusing on building Stellar’s payments and stablecoin ecosystem, growing wallets globally, expanding into new verticals, and collaborating cross-functionally with RWA and DeFi teams to create holistic deals. This role supports broader partnership objectives and owns primary OKRs for account growth and payment volume.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and refine the Payments Strategy to drive Monthly Active Account volume on Stellar, including:
    • B2B2B and B2B2C payouts and commerce
    • Global Marketplace
    • Payment Service Providers
    • Neobanks
  • Develop a priority target list and ensure execution against primary targets.
  • Manage key strategic relationships with enterprise accounts.
  • Drive business development for core priorities: expanding DeFi, increasing monthly addresses, and driving asset tokenization, in coordination with partnership vertical leads. Surface opportunities based on Stellar’s needs and assist in closing deals brought by other BD and SDF members.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record in business development, particularly in global payment processing, fintech, or blockchain/crypto-related roles.
  • Existing relationships within the Enterprise, Fintech, Payments, and Crypto ecosystem, with a focus on payments, RWA, and decentralized finance.
  • Crypto Knowledge: Strong understanding of crypto payment systems, including experience with cryptocurrency exchanges, blockchain technology, and digital asset payments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of payment flow of funds and blockchain’s role in enhancing them, with a focus on global and local payments across regions.
  • Sales/Commercial Leadership: Proven ability to independently develop, structure/negotiate, and close opportunities.
  • Strategic Thinker: Experience in developing and executing go-to-market strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and managing complex sales cycles.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience working with Enterprises, financial institutions, crypto companies, payment providers, or fintech startups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with senior-level professionals, sound judgment, poise, and self-awareness.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial drive.
  • Communication & Negotiation Skills: Ability to build strong relationships and negotiate high-stakes deals.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to represent Stellar at regional and global meetings and conferences.

Bonus Points

  • Non-Payments Experience: Institutional knowledge of TradFi related to legal, regulatory, and economic market structures in multiple geographies, particularly for asset classes such as Payments, VC, PE, Fintech, and DeFi.
  • Language: Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, or Mandarin.

Pay

Base salary range for this position: $145,000 - $195,000, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
