End-to-End Digital Experience Ownership
- Own the full digital experience across the corporate web presence, customer portal, payment hub, self-service flows, and supporting APIs.
- Partner with the Senior Director of Digital Engineering to translate the roadmap into a credible delivery plan.
- Serve as the single point of accountability for release health, UX quality, performance, and availability.
- Champion customer-centric metrics—conversion, page performance, error rates, and CSAT—over pure ship velocity.
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and grow a blended team of front-end, full-stack, and back-end engineers, including tech leads.
- Set architectural standards in partnership with enterprise, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Drive modern engineering practices including trunk-based development, CI/CD, feature flagging, observability, and post-mortems.
- Run sprint and release cadences, remove blockers, and manage technical debt with defensible trade-offs between features, platform health, and cost.
Quality & QA Ownership
- Own quality strategy end-to-end—manual QA, automation, performance testing, and release readiness—as a first-class discipline.
- Build and lead the QA function, including hiring, coaching, and defining career ladders for QA engineers.
- Define quality gates and release management practices including entry/exit criteria, deployment playbooks, and go/no-go decision rights.
- Own production KPIs (defect escape rate, MTTD/MTTR, change failure rate, SLOs) and drive continuous improvement.
Vendor, Offshore & Partner Management
- Manage a blended workforce of FTEs, onshore contractors, and offshore pods with clear SLAs and quality bars.
- Participate in vendor selection, SOW scoping, and ongoing performance governance.
- Drive documentation and knowledge transfer to keep work portable across pods and individuals.
- Optimize the onshore/offshore mix to hit velocity and cost targets without compromising quality or security.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with product, marketing, sales, and operations to translate business needs into technical solutions with measurable outcomes.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, data, and platform teams to ensure the digital stack is scalable, compliant, and resilient.
- Communicate trade-offs and risks clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Represent digital engineering in executive reviews and PE-sponsor updates as needed.
Team Building & Culture
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-caliber engineering and QA talent with a clear succession plan for key roles.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and intellectual honesty.
- Recognize strong performance and address underperformance promptly and directly.
- Continuously improve SDLC processes to shorten cycle time and increase quality.
