About the role
The AWS Data Center Systems team seeks a Senior Manager to lead the development and operation of services that collect power and cooling equipment data in Amazon data centers. This includes both directly managing Software Development Engineers and serving as a manager-or-managers for Software Development Managers.
Responsibilities
- Built global cloud monitoring applications using device telemetry from industrial control systems.
- Ensure data center systems are designed with high reliability, security, availability, scalability, and low latency from the outset.
- Establish development standards, best practices, and drive operational excellence throughout the team.
- Hire and develop the best engineers to accomplish the organization's goals and mission.
- Build relationships with peers to ensure the group is using the right AWS services and methodologies for the company’s scale, while recognizing the unique requirements of the data center systems problem space.
Requirements
- 7+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Qualifications
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
- Experience establishing metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence
Skills
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience with AWS services relevant to data center systems
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
