Job Description Summary
The Senior Manager, Communications Strategy is responsible for defining and advancing the enterprise communications strategy, establishing a clear and compelling narrative that aligns leadership, engages employees, and strengthens Sunbelt’s external reputation.
Position Responsibilities
- Set and lead the enterprise communications strategy across internal, executive, and external channels—ensuring alignment to business priorities, company narrative, and growth objectives.
- Own and evolve executive communications strategy, consult with senior leadership to define messaging platforms, enhance leadership visibility, and ensure consistent, high-impact communications across presentations, employee engagement, and external communications.
- Develop and elevate Sunbelt’s employer brand through external communications, integrating PR, social, and media strategies to strengthen reputation, attract talent, and position the company as an employer of choice.
- Lead the internal communications function to drive clarity, engagement, and alignment—connecting employees to strategy, culture, and priorities through modern, scalable communication approaches.
- Oversee social media strategy and governance, ensuring content, campaigns, and always-on activity are aligned to brand, audience, and performance objectives.
- Lead media relations and external communications strategy, building strong relationships with media and proactively positioning Sunbelt’s story, leadership, and key initiatives.
- Oversee communications for social responsibility and community impact, ensuring the company’s commitments are clearly articulated and effectively promoted.
- Establish and execute a roadmap for AI and technology adoption within Communications, driving measurable improvements in efficiency, speed, scalability, and content effectiveness across the organization.
- Partner with business and functional leaders to develop targeted, audience-driven, integrated communications that support enterprise initiatives and drive engagement across internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as division spokesperson and lead crisis communications, develop messaging frameworks and coordinating response strategies with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Manage and optimize external agency partnerships, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities, clear scope of work, and effective budget management.
- Establish and scale best practices, frameworks, and standards for communications across the organization, leveraging benchmarks and driving consistency across regions.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8-10 years of corporate communications, traditional/digital/social media, public relations, and crisis communication; including 2-5 years of leading a team.
- Proven ability to operate as a strategic advisor, using a consultative approach to partner with senior leaders and influence decision-making through clear, informed communications counsel.
- Strong presence, Communications expertise, with the ability to engage confidently with senior leadership, shape messaging for high-visibility forums, and represent the organization with professionalism and impact.
- Demonstrated business acumen, with a deep understanding of how communications drives business performance, organizational alignment, and brand reputation.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business priorities into clear, compelling messaging and communication strategies.
- Experience developing and leading enterprise communications strategies, including executive communications, internal communications, and external positioning.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust, align diverse perspectives, and drive consensus across functions and leadership levels.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience crafting executive-level messaging, presentations, and narrative frameworks.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing long-term strategic priorities with emerging business needs.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and influence C-level executive leadership.
- Meticulous attention to detail, and strong preparation and organizational skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in an environment of constant change and shifting priorities.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships internally and externally; collaborative and inclusive; work independently.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job.
- Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work.
