Senior Manager, Communications
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Manager Senior, Communications, leads the college's strategic communications and storytelling efforts to enhance institutional reputation, engagement, and student success. Oversees the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across digital, print, media, and events, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with the college's mission and values. Provides leadership to communications staff and collaborates across the college to support recruitment, retention, and community engagement initiatives.
Essential Job Functions

Leads, mentors, and inspires a team of communications professionals, including writers, designers, content creators, multimedia and event support staff; establishes clear goals, efficient workflows, provides feedback, and fosters professional growth

Hires, onboards, trains, and develops staff while cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration, and exceptional customer service

Manages budget planning, monitoring, and purchasing activities for the communications department

Leads the team that executes comprehensive communications, branding, and public relations strategies that advance the college's mission, values, and priorities

Prepares and delivers regular communications reports for the Executive Director

Manages the full life cycle of the college's newsletter and communications hub, including content planning, editorial direction, and final production

Directs video strategy and production, prioritizing projects aligned with institutional goals and managing resources and timelines

Builds and maintains relationships with campus stakeholders to promote programs, achievements, and initiatives; partners with faculty, department leaders, executives, and the Executive Director to support student success, recruitment and retention, and event communications

Manages vendor relationships and contracts; oversees web content management system administration and work request processes; handles ad hoc projects and data-driven reporting as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

At least 3 years of experience in public relations, digital marketing, or communications

At least 3 years of experience coordinating and directing special events
-
At least 3 years of experience in higher education structure, community colleges, or agencies that fund higher education
-
American Marketing Association Certification(s)

Salary
Hiring salary range is $72,821 - $83,745.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions.
