About the role
The Senior Manager of Communications Governance will lead effective global internal change communications governance strategies and execution of Aon’s most high-profile colleague communications. This role serves as the communications execution partner for our most critical and high-profile announcements.
Responsibilities
- Lead communications governance and establish clear standards, frameworks and guardrails that improve consistency, quality and effectiveness of internal communications.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to communications partners and senior stakeholders on message clarity, structure, tone, sequencing and channel strategy.
- Define and maintain editorial guidance, templates and best practices to support leadership communications, change initiatives and major announcements.
- Review and quality-check high-visibility communications to ensure alignment with Aon’s brand, values and editorial principles.
- Partner with Regional and Solution Line communications leads and program teams to support disciplined communications planning to reduce noise, manage message cadence and improve colleague understanding.
- Enable leaders and communicators through coaching, toolkits and consultative guidance, helping them communicate complex or sensitive topics with clarity and empathy.
- Lead AI enablement across global internal communications to enhance outcomes, productivity and alignment.
- Utilize AI as a collaborative tool to enhance productivity through effective AI prompting to draft, summarize and optimize content.
- Monitor feedback, engagement and common pain points in colleague communications, using insights to continuously improve governance approaches.
- Lead global internal communications measurement that leads to actionable insights for communications and business leaders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant strategic communication experience with an emphasis on internal, shared services or executive communications; experience with SharePoint, Eloqua and/or Poppulo preferred.
- Strong editorial judgment with exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to confidently advise senior leaders and communicators on message quality and effectiveness.
- Proven ability to translate complex, technical or ambiguous topics into clear, concise and colleague-centered communications.
- Deep understanding of internal communications channels and leader-led communications support.
- Self-motivated with outstanding interpersonal, team and collaboration skills.
- Able to communicate complex concepts simply and visually.
- Fluency in AI concepts and tools, with experience applying them responsibly to communications workflows.
- Detail-oriented, organized and calm under pressure, with a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Able and willing to perform both strategic and tactical elements of the role.
- Strong project management skills with ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy and efficiency.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours as needed to interact with others in global locations and meet business needs/deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field preferred.
