Senior Manager, Category Management

About the Role

As a Senior Manager, Category Management, you will be responsible for the holistic relationship between Capital One and key third parties, enabling a well-managed and adaptable supply chain. You will work closely with internal team members to establish and maintain relationships with internal business customers and assigned suppliers, while staying informed on market trends and industry standards for your supplier portfolio. This role is essential in delivering key cost, risk, and performance management efforts for third-party relationships, as well as identifying strategic opportunities for growth and greater return on investment. You will also lead and develop your team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities

• People Management: Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing supplier teams through clear communication, coaching, and accountability.
• Strategy: Provide strategic and innovative solutions to support internal customers and identify value-generating opportunities (e.g., savings, efficiencies, or revenue growth).
• Negotiation: Develop deal strategies and align with key stakeholders to negotiate a broad range of products and services for Capital One.
• Stakeholder and Relationship Management: Build strong internal relationships, influence without authority, and serve as the primary point of contact for third parties. Manage effective governance between Capital One and assigned suppliers, including acting on service levels.
• Collaboration: Work cross-functionally across multiple business units to ensure third-party relationships comply with all relevant Capital One policies and procedures.
• Risk Management: Monitor and ensure successful delivery against third-party contractual obligations.
• Process Management: Ensure policy compliance for all managed third-party relationships and lead periodic reviews and assessments of supplier relationships.
• Supplier Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and engage suppliers to acquire goods or services, including conducting market research, negotiations, supplier management, cost analyses, and aligning procurement strategies with organizational goals.

Note: Limited travel may be required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years of experience in Supplier Management, Relationship Management, Procurement, Process Management, Project Management, or Risk Management, or a combination thereof.
• At least 3 years of People Leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• At least 6 years of experience in Supplier Management and Procurement.
• At least 3 years of experience in Risk & Operations Management.

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours worked.

• Richmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Manager, Supply Chain.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
