Responsibilities

  • Secure new funding by driving the capture and successful submission of high-value proposals to U.S. federal, state, and foundation clients.
  • Lead cross-functional global teams, serving adaptively as proposal manager, capture and proposal lead, writer, or others to deliver winning bids.
  • Facilitate design discussions between JSI experts and consortium partners while cultivating strategic relationships with key target clients.
  • Negotiate teaming and pre-teaming agreements to maximize JSI's competitive advantage and operational efficiency within consortiums.

Thought & Strategy

  • Working with HSD leadership, drive JSI's U.S. expansion by identifying, cultivating, and securing new government, foundation, and alternative funders.
  • Routinely analyze donor trends to pivot business development (BD) strategies and inform the strategic direction of organizational resources.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Synergize BD efforts across operations, communications, and other divisions to ensure highly visible, collaborative, and efficient bid processes.
  • Enhance BD operations and performance by managing and analyzing data utilizing knowledge management platforms like Salesforce and Google Workspace.

Expertise & Growth

  • Elevate organizational BD capability by developing modern templates, training materials, and conducting cross-divisional staff training sessions.
  • Lead internal post-submission debriefs to extract actionable insights and refine organizational new business systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • Advanced related degree in Business, Project Management, Public Health or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years’ relevant progressive experience in U.S. public health-related business development, including leadership/people management experience.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and tracking U.S. federal, state, and foundation funding opportunities. Demonstrated success in leading large-scale federal captures and complex proposal processes from inception to award.
  • Deep knowledge of domestic health priorities, programs, and initiatives and experience with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Experience with other federal departments, such as the Veterans Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, or Department of Agriculture, is preferred.
  • Exceptional presentation, public speaking, and clear, concise writing skills to lead complex proposal narratives.
  • Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically, if necessary (up to 10%).
