Additional Physical Requirements and Environmental Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment and may require occasional travel to off-site facilities, which could involve exposure to outdoor temperatures and inclement weather; equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts, dust and water/moisture.
Experience & Education and License/Certificate
- Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible professional level administrative experience. Public sector experience is highly desirable.
- Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, public administration, economics, or a related field.
- Licenses/Certificates: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
Disaster Service Worker
In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, City of Newport Beach Employees, in the event of a disaster, are considered disaster service workers and may be asked to respond accordingly.
Selection Components
- Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of Thursday, May 28, 2026 or until 150 applications are received—whichever occurs first. Please apply immediately as this position may close at anytime.
- In-person Interview: Tentatively scheduled for the week of June 22, 2026. Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future full-time vacancies as they occur.
- This position may work a 5/40 or 9/80 schedule
Retirement
The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 8% (or half the normal cost, whichever is higher) of pay towards the retirement benefit.
