Senior Mainframe System Administrator

The Senior Mainframe System Administrator will manage and maintain critical business applications running on z/OS and z/VM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise IBM mainframe environments, ensuring high availability for critical business applications.
• Maintain system performance, capacity, security administration, and operational reliability.
• Monitor system health, performance, and batch operations using tools like SDSF, ISPF, and JCL, resolving issues proactively.
• Perform system maintenance activities including patching, upgrades, IPL planning, capacity management, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Manage security administration, user access controls, RACF/permissions, and compliance standards within a regulated financial environment.
• Partner with infrastructure, networking, storage, and application teams to troubleshoot incidents, optimize operations, and improve automation.

Requirements

• Technologies used: z/OS, z/VM, JCL, SDSF/ISPF, TSO, core mainframe operational utilities.
• Experience with mainframe security administration, including access management, RACF, or similar controls.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, capacity planning, batch scheduling, storage, and system monitoring.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and work cross-functionally in a 24×7 mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience administering IBM z/OS and z/VM mainframe systems in a production environment.
• Proficiency with JCL, SDSF, ISPF, TSO, and core mainframe operational utilities.
• Experience with mainframe security administration, including access management, RACF, or similar controls.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, capacity planning, batch scheduling, storage, and system monitoring.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and work cross-functionally in a 24×7 mission-critical environment.

Skills

• Mainframe automation tools (e.g., OPS/MVS, System Automation).
• Networking and storage utilities supporting mainframe operations.
