About the Role

As a Mainframe Systems Administrator, you will manage and maintain core z/OS and z/VM platforms that support Western & Southern's critical business applications. You will oversee system performance, capacity, security administration, and operational reliability. Your day includes monitoring system health, implementing maintenance and upgrades, coordinating with internal IT teams on incident resolution, and ensuring stable and compliant mainframe operations. This role suits someone who enjoys deep technical problem-solving, structured operational work, and maintaining high-availability environments in a financial setting.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain z/OS and z/VM platforms.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and operational reliability.
• Implement system maintenance and upgrades.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams on incident resolution.
• Ensure stable and compliant mainframe operations.
• Manage security administration and access control.
• Use JCL for job control in batch processing and operational workflows.
• Utilize SDSF/ISPF for system monitoring, analysis, and command interfaces.
• Perform performance monitoring and capacity planning.
• Work with mainframe automation tools (e.g., OPS/MVS, System Automation).
• Support networking and storage utilities for mainframe operations.
