About the role
We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support seniors in our beautiful community. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with seniors and committed to providing an atmosphere that values individualism and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned, including installations and repairs involving plumbing and electrical equipment, fire and sprinkler equipment, H.V.A.C., landscape, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair.
- Ensure that walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained and repaired.
- Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner which includes painting walls and cleaning carpets.
- Responsible for all in-house plumbing, e.g. sinks, toilets and bathtubs.
- Responsible for minor electrical work within units and in common areas, e.g. light switches, wall outlets, garbage disposals, etc.
- Responsible for painting of all apartments and common areas.
- Repair, clean and maintain all carpet, floor coverings and furniture.
- Responsible for completing all work orders in a timely manner – noting any other work completed at the location but not listed on work order.
- Document safety issues as well as physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state and federal guidelines.
- Aid in preventative maintenance and cleaning of the community vehicles (buses and cars, vans).
- Aid in training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications.
- Responds immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies, based on established protocol.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1-3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating and HVAC skills.
- Prefer knowledge of fire suppression & irrigation systems.
- Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability.
Qualifications
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 90 lbs), pushing/pulling, and other physical activities.
