Senior Lifeguard (Part-time)

About the role

The Senior Lifeguard assists with instruction and supervision of pool lifeguards, ensures safety measures are enforced, and participates in aquatic program planning and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Manages and supervises pool lifeguard staff.
• Enforces safety protocols and monitors swimmers.
• Interprets and enforces city policies and procedures.
• Maintains and files required records such as attendance, pool logs, and financial reports.
• Completes daily inspections and open/closing reports.
• Assists in staff training, scheduling, and in-service trainings.
• Instructs swim classes and aquatics programming.
• Schedules and cleans the pool area.
• Establishes and maintains positive relationships with staff and the public.
• Responds effectively to emergencies according to facility emergency action plans.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old by the time of appointment.
• One year of recent, paid lifeguard experience OR two summer seasons of lifeguard experience, including swim lesson teaching and public interaction.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification.
• One of the following certifications: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, or American Red Cross Lifeguard Management Certificate.
• Knowledge of first aid, CPR/AED, water safety practices, swimming lesson instruction, customer service, pool operations, staff scheduling, group management, and child development.
• Ability to assist with scheduling and supervising aquatics staff, follow instructions, enforce policies, maintain safety, communicate clearly, and establish cooperative relationships.
