Senior-level Structural Engineer - Safety

About the role
As a Senior-level Structural Engineer in our Charlotte, North Carolina office, you will analyze, design, plan, and fabricate structural components and systems while leading fall protection projects for LJB clients.
Responsibilities
- Manage internal teams to complete projects by creating plans, setting priorities, and deadlines.
- Perform QC reviews and oversight of project calculations and deliverables.
- Analyze building components used to support fall protection systems, including structural steel framing, cold-formed steel framing, and cast-in-place concrete.
- Develop layouts of fall protection systems to address customer needs and coordinate with existing structures.
- Assist with the preparation of construction documents for the installation of fall protection systems.
- Perform tasks within Revit and other CAD software to execute assigned engineering tasks.
- Prepare calculations detailing engineering design.
- Coordinate projects by communicating with clients regarding project issues and attending meetings.
- Maintain technical knowledge through training initiatives, seminars, professional publications, and in-house systems/management training.
- Travel (overnight stays based on supported projects) to various US-based locations.
- Analyze situations to identify ways to improve efficiency.
- React quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
- Work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
- ERP experience required; Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.
- Understand and apply OSHA/ANSI fall protection standards.
- Pass background checks, drug tests, and MVR checks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural, or mechanical engineering with structural emphasis (master’s degree preferred).
- 8+ years of engineering experience, with knowledge in the design of structural engineering projects (fall protection experience preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- CAD experience (Revit and Bluebeam preferred).
- Experience with RAM, STRAP, or other structural analysis software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Structural Engineer (SE) license.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as OSHA 1926 and ANSI Z359.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to traverse worksites in different types of weather and perform duties requiring bending, climbing, stretching, reaching, and leaning.
- Must meet the weight capacity of design perimeters of fall protection systems (between 130 to 310 lbs).
- Understands exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Pay
Salary range: $90,000 - $130,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.
