Structural Engineer (Senior Level)

Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Senior Structural Engineer in either our Essex, Connecticut, Falmouth, Maine, or Pittsfield, Maine offices.

About the role

This position provides an opportunity to be a part of a team working on the design and management of hydroelectric and fisheries-related facilities, incorporating the skills of civil, structural, and hydraulic engineering projects. The role involves managing people, projects, and client relationships, as well as performing technical design for hydroelectric, fisheries, and water resources projects. Responsibilities

• Perform technical design for hydroelectric, fisheries, and water resources projects.
• Manage project teams that include junior and senior-level staff, drafters, and project coordinators.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, including overall project management and client coordination.
• Provide technical leadership of internal teams across multiple disciplines.
• Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team throughout the project lifecycle, from analysis and design to construction.
• Establish and maintain long-lasting client relationships to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Mentor junior-level staff.
• Coordinate with hydrology/hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers.
• Work in the field with clients and contractors during planning and construction of projects.

Requirements

• Licensed Professional Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in structural engineering.
• Experience with hydroelectric design projects and fisheries-related or water resource projects is a plus.
• Specialty experience within structural engineering, such as seismic design or finite element modeling, is a plus.
• Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to structural engineering.
• Experience with analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in and around water.
• Proficiency with structural modeling software (MathCAD, RISA-3D, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Revit).
• Excellent problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes is a plus.
• Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and be able to acquire authorization to work in Canada.
• Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license.
