As a senior-level process engineer, you will provide senior level technical leadership in the design, analysis, and documentation of nuclear and chemical process systems, supporting projects from conceptual development through detailed design and execution of DOE and nuclear facility projects. The Senior Process Engineer serves as a technical authority for process systems, performs and approves complex engineering calculations, develops process and equipment specifications, and ensures compliance with applicable nuclear, safety, and quality requirements. Key Responsibilities: Lead and independently execute process engineering design activities for nuclear and chemical process systemsPerform, review, and approve complex process engineering calculationsDevelop and review:Engineering calculationsProcess flow diagrams (PFDs)Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)Process equipment specifications and data sheetsTechnical reports and formal design documentationApply engineering judgment to resolve complex technical and regulatory issuesEnsure process designs comply with applicable DOE requirements, nuclear safety expectations, and quality proceduresSupport design reviews, readiness activities, and technical evaluationsInterface with safety, operations, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutionsServe as a technical lead or subject matter expert (SME) within multidisciplinary project teamsProvide technical direction and mentoring to junior engineers and designersSupport project planning, scope development, and execution strategiesInterface directly with clients, project management, and stakeholders as a senior technical contributorSupport procurement, construction, startup, and operational readiness activities as requiredReview vendor submittals and technical documentationSupport troubleshooting, design changes, and configuration control processes Basic Qualifications: B.S. Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program15+ years in in process engineering roles within industrial, nuclear, or government facilities U.S. Citizenship requiredDemonstrated experience performing and approving formal process engineering calculationsStrong background in process system and equipment specificationExperience working within regulated environments and structured engineering proceduresProfessional Engineer (PE) license, required Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the Basic Qualifications the ideal candidate might also have: Prior nuclear, DOE, or high‑hazard facility design experienceExperience with nuclear material or uranium processing systemsExperience working under a formal quality program (ISO 9001, NQA 1)Experience managing or reviewing the work of other engineers or designersProfessional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtainStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skillsMaster’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institutionSelf‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and team‑focused professional Work Environment: Primarily office-based work in a secure engineering environment Amentum office location is preferred; hybrid or remote work may be available by prior agreement based on role and project requirementsOccasional exposure to industrial facilities, which may include elevated noise levels, hazardous materials, or controlled areasSite visits may be required Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 35 lbs occasionallyVision correctable to 20/20Ability to read and use computer‑aided design software effectivelyAppropriate PPE and training will be provided as required Compliance & Eligibility Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required (no dual citizenship)Valid driver's license is requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearanceAbility to pass pre-employment background investigation and drug screeningWillingness to work overtime or outside normal hours as neededProfessional appearance appropriate for a customer‑facing engineering environmentTravel required: less than 10% Compensation Details: $140,000 - $190,000 The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
