About the role
As a Senior Lead Data Engineer in Capital One’s Bank Tech division, you will play a pivotal role in managing and improving the data engineering capabilities for the bank’s operations. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and scalability of data pipelines and systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize data pipelines and systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable data architectures.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and data engineers.
- Escalate and manage data-related risks and issues.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of best practices and standards in data engineering.
Requirements
- Strong background in data engineering, with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality data engineering projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of data modeling and database design.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Skills
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or similar programming languages.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance principles.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI.
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Schedule
This role is full-time and requires a standard 40-hour workweek.
