Key Responsibilities
- Cook up, process, and track AFEs, proposals, elections, and related correspondence.
- Analyze leases, contracts, title documents, and ownership records to calculate working interest and net revenue interest ownership.
- Research and resolve title, ownership, contract, and landowner issues while making recommendations regarding corrective actions.
- Prepare, review, and maintain oil and gas leases, assignments, transmittals, check requests, and other land-related agreements.
- Coordinate lease bonus payments, vendor payments, well cost payments, associated wire requests, and perform regular invoicing requirements.
- Manage the recordation, workflow, and processing of executed documents, including submission and tracking through county courthouses and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain accurate land data and ownership records within internal land systems to ensure proper reporting and operational efficiency.
- Aid Landmen with research projects, ownership verification, mapping updates, and data integrity initiatives.
- Coordinate and track mass mailings, certified mailings, and other stakeholder communications.
- Organize and maintain both electronic and physical land records and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance data quality.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Land Technician experience within the oil and gas industry.
- A thorough understanding of oil and gas agreements, including leases, assignments, joint operating agreements, surface use agreements, and related contracts.
- Strong knowledge of oil and gas title principles, ownership calculations, title opinions, abstracts, and curative documentation.
- Experience calculating complex working interest and net revenue interest ownership.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements; Oklahoma and Texas experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with land management software systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, or a related field.
- Experience utilizing GIS and mapping software.
- Exposure to private equity-backed oil and gas operations is a plus.
