About the role

The Senior Technician (Land Survey) performs advanced field and office surveying tasks in support of a wide variety of land development and infrastructure projects. This role requires a strong technical foundation, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Field Surveying - Perform complex field surveys using GNSS, total stations, laser scanners, and UAS technologies
  • Conduct boundary and right-of-way surveys
  • Perform topographic, route, and bathymetric surveys
  • Set and recover survey control and monuments
  • Safely operate and maintain field equipment and company vehicles
  • Office & Technical Work - Research and interpret property records including deeds, plats, easements, and other legal documents
  • Prepare and plot survey data, record information, and maps using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Aid in the preparation of legal descriptions under the direction of the professional in responsible charge
  • Draft accurate and complete survey deliverables such as drawings, base maps, reports, and exhibits
  • Perform and verify survey calculations and mathematical computations
  • Organize and maintain project files and documentation
  • Team & Professional Responsibilities - Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians as needed
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and team members
  • Adapt to evolving technologies, software, and survey methodologies
  • Work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment

Requirements

  • Required - Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 3 years of land surveying experience
  • Strong working knowledge of field and office survey practices
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe or Bluebeam
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently
  • Preferred - Associate degree in Engineering, Land Surveying, or Engineering Technology
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • ESRI ArcGIS suite (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcOnline, ArcTools)
    • Trimble Business Center, GPS Pathfinder, RealWorks, SketchUp
    • FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, 3DR Site Scan, or similar software
  • Certifications (Preferred) - NSPS Certified Survey Technician (Level II or higher), OSHA 10-hour or higher

Benefits

This is a full-time position located at one of our NJ Offices (Flanders, Wall, or Hackensack, NJ). The work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
