About the role
The Senior Technician (Land Survey) performs advanced field and office surveying tasks in support of a wide variety of land development and infrastructure projects. This role requires a strong technical foundation, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Field Surveying - Perform complex field surveys using GNSS, total stations, laser scanners, and UAS technologies
- Conduct boundary and right-of-way surveys
- Perform topographic, route, and bathymetric surveys
- Set and recover survey control and monuments
- Safely operate and maintain field equipment and company vehicles
- Office & Technical Work - Research and interpret property records including deeds, plats, easements, and other legal documents
- Prepare and plot survey data, record information, and maps using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Aid in the preparation of legal descriptions under the direction of the professional in responsible charge
- Draft accurate and complete survey deliverables such as drawings, base maps, reports, and exhibits
- Perform and verify survey calculations and mathematical computations
- Organize and maintain project files and documentation
- Team & Professional Responsibilities - Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians as needed
- Communicate effectively with project managers and team members
- Adapt to evolving technologies, software, and survey methodologies
- Work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
Requirements
- Required - Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 3 years of land surveying experience
- Strong working knowledge of field and office survey practices
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe or Bluebeam
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently
- Preferred - Associate degree in Engineering, Land Surveying, or Engineering Technology
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- ESRI ArcGIS suite (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcOnline, ArcTools)
- Trimble Business Center, GPS Pathfinder, RealWorks, SketchUp
- FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, 3DR Site Scan, or similar software
- Certifications (Preferred) - NSPS Certified Survey Technician (Level II or higher), OSHA 10-hour or higher
Benefits
This is a full-time position located at one of our NJ Offices (Flanders, Wall, or Hackensack, NJ). The work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
