About the role
Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Land Design Engineer to join our southeast engineering team. The role offers expanding opportunities in the region and a variety of clients.
Responsibilities
- Complete civil engineering designs and generate professional plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports in areas such as Site Layout, Grading, Storm Drainage, Water & Sewer Utilities, Erosion and Sediment Control, Storm Water Best Management Practices, and various Civil 3D Plans.
- Create and maintain a variety of Civil 3D Plans, exhibits, and technical deliverables.
- Evaluate design to solve constructability, municipal code, and site challenges.
- Coordinate with Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineers.
- Perform site visits to perform job scoping and coordinate with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.
- Support clients with periodic construction support tasks, including reviewing RFIs & Shop Drawings, conducting field inspections, etc.
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
- Prioritizing and multi-tasking effectively
- Proactively troubleshooting and problem-solving with practical, client-focused solutions
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals
- 3-8+ years of related experience in civil engineering
- Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with team members
- Computer skills preferred: AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, MS Office
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a hybrid office role, potentially based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, or Charlotte, North Carolina
