Senior Java Technical Lead

About The Role

As a Senior Java Technical Lead, you will make an impact by designing and delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing enterprise applications using Core Java, Spring Security, JavaScript, AWS, Git, and GitHub Copilot. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product managers, business analysts, developers, security teams, and enterprise architects to define technical standards, guide implementation strategies, and drive successful delivery of modern applications.

In This Role, You Will

• Design end-to-end enterprise application solutions leveraging Core Java, Spring Security, JavaScript, and AWS cloud services to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient business applications.
• Define technical standards, reusable design patterns, and reference implementations that improve consistency, maintainability, and software quality across teams.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and implementation roadmaps.
• Lead architecture reviews, security assessments, performance optimization efforts, and code quality initiatives to ensure robust and compliant application delivery.
• Mentor developers and engineering teams while promoting best practices in software development, Git-based collaboration, CI/CD automation, test-driven development, and responsible use of GitHub Copilot.

What You Need To Have To Be Considered

• 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications using Core Java.
• Strong expertise in Spring Security, including authentication, authorization, identity provider integration, and role-based access control.
• Proven experience architecting and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS, including security, networking, scalability, and cost optimization considerations.
• Strong hands-on experience with Git, code review processes, branching strategies, and collaborative software development practices.
• Solid experience developing modern applications using JavaScript and integrating front-end applications with enterprise APIs and services.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineering teams, and driving adoption of engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across cross-functional teams.

These Will Help You Stand Out

• Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools in enterprise environments.
• Experience defining enterprise architecture standards, technical governance frameworks, and best practices.
• Knowledge of observability, logging, monitoring, incident response, and production support strategies.
• Experience leading cloud modernization, digital transformation, or application modernization initiatives.
• AWS certifications or other cloud-related certifications.

Pay And Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position depends on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
