Senior Java Developer – Schwab Investing Themes

Responsibilities

• Design and enhance scalable backend services, APIs, and cloud-enabled solutions that support a growing platform serving clients and advisors across Schwab
• Work closely with product owners, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative technology that improves performance, scalability, resiliency, and client experience
• Lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, participate in architectural decisions, and contribute to solutions that directly impact Schwab clients

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and/or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of professional experience developing applications using Java and Spring
• Demonstrated Software Development skills used to design, build, test, and support scalable enterprise applications
• Advanced Backend Development experience building APIs, services, and distributed applications
• Experience developing and maintaining REST and/or SOAP APIs
• Demonstrated Quality Assurance practices including automated testing, TDD, and quality-focused development
• Experience using AI-enabled development tools or automated code analysis solutions to improve productivity and software quality
• Experience working within Agile Collaboration environments utilizing Scrum delivery practices
• Ability to troubleshoot application and environment issues while maintaining production stability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Hibernate and modern Java ecosystem frameworks
• Experience developing cloud-based applications and distributed systems
• Experience with MongoDB, SQL, or NoSQL technologies
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging technologies
• Experience with Cloud Foundry or similar cloud platforms
• Experience leading code reviews and mentoring software engineers
• Experience improving platform performance, scalability, and reliability
• Demonstrated Technical Leadership in architecture discussions and engineering decision making
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners to define and prioritize technology solutions
