Senior Java Developer – Financial Risk & Pricing Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with substantial experience in financial services, specifically with multi-asset risk and pricing systems. This role involves designing and developing massively parallel distributed systems, writing and modifying code across multiple Java applications, and implementing new features based on business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop massively parallel distributed systems utilizing compute grids.
• Write, modify, and maintain code for multiple Java applications.
• Lead and execute upgrades of major Java versions.
• Conduct performance tuning and debugging of existing applications.
• Implement new features according to business requirements.
• Perform SQL development and provide some Level 3 support.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in financial services focusing on multi-asset risk and pricing. Progressive experience of 5-8 years within the banking industry. Demonstrated experience participating in large or complex projects.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in Core Java development and deep understanding of JVM fundamentals. Proficiency in system design, performance tuning, and debugging. Application development experience in Java or Python. Strong skills in RDBMS and SQL. Proficiency in data management with strong data analytical capabilities.
• Professional Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with different levels of management. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities. A sense of ownership, accountability, and personal investment in project success. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with financial products is required; risk knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with Quartz is a plus.

Work Environment

This position requires a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of three days per week on-site.
