About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java / AWS Software Engineer to join a leading media and technology organization. The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on engineer with deep expertise in modern Java development, cloud-native architecture, and end-to-end application delivery. This role requires someone who can independently design, develop, optimize, deploy, and support scalable enterprise applications in AWS environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java 21, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Build robust RESTful APIs and backend services supporting complex business applications.
  • Own the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications using AWS services.
  • Implement efficient multithreaded and concurrent processing solutions for high-performance applications.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimize application performance, and ensure production stability.
  • Apply modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
  • Explore opportunities to integrate AI capabilities into applications where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams while independently driving technical solutions from concept to production.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, including modern Java features and preferably Java 21.
  • Advanced knowledge of Java multithreading, concurrency, collections, JVM fundamentals, and performance optimization.
  • Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices, and REST API development.
  • Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications on AWS.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, application scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
  • Demonstrated experience owning applications through the entire development lifecycle, including production deployment.
  • Experience troubleshooting production issues, identifying bottlenecks, and improving system performance.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
  • Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architectures such as Kafka or AWS messaging services.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar technologies.
  • Exposure to integrating AI/LLM capabilities into enterprise applications.
  • Experience building high-throughput, low-latency, or highly concurrent systems.
  • Prior experience in media, streaming, digital platforms, or other high-volume enterprise environments.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can independently architect, build, deploy, and maintain production-grade applications—not simply someone who has worked on individual components of larger projects.
