Senior IT Cloud Engineer
About the role
The Cloud Engineering 2 team within Cloud Services (Infrastructure) is excited to announce an opening for an Sr. IT Cloud Engineer for the AI Factory team. The candidate filling this position will be the technical lead for the team. This role includes incorporating enterprise architecture and security standards into solution design and implementation, working with the architect team to define architecture, understanding complex requests and breaking them down into actionable, well-designed solutions, serving as the technical lead by guiding and mentoring the engineering team.
Responsibilities

- Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform infrastructure services, including the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (formerly Vertex AI) and its services (Agent Platform Workbench, Colab Enterprise, Model Registry, and Agent Engine model serving), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Google Batch, Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Workflows, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Dataproc, and Cloud SQL
- Extensive expertise with Terraform, Python, Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Google Cloud APIs, Apigee APIs, and automation tools and concepts, along with the networking and security controls that protect the AI Factory perimeter—VPC Service Controls, Private Service Connect, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networking, IAM & Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP), Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Armor, and Akamai Web Security
- Familiarity with HIPAA/PHI and data-residency safeguards, Veracode, SailPoint, service accounts and permissions, ServiceNow, and SharePoint
- Demonstrate exceptional technical competence and team leadership skills, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate’s degree with 7 years’ experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 9 years of experience and 1 years’ of demonstrated leadership experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple environments including cloud and on-premise, and multiple operating systems
- Functional understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies
- Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, hardware and tools to the design and production of various products and services
- Working knowledge of data center design best practices
- Knowledge of and ability to apply DevOps principles and ways of working
- Ability to develop and deliver requirements, concepts of operations, use cases, demonstrations, and presentations to both one-to-one and in small groups
- Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, managing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application, or operational) problems
- Ability to effectively communicate with and present to senior management and executive stakeholders (e.g., IT Leadership)
- Certification in cloud engineering is required
